Our Excel awning was installed April 16, 2010. We did shop around before deciding on Excel and found that what is included in Ron's package is "add ons" with other companies. The installers were on time, were very courteous and did a great job installing the awning on our breezeway. Ron was present for the installation as he promised. The awning is so easy to operate and tailor made for our space. With all the rain this week end we could still be out by the pool and enjoy the scenery, cook out and not get wet. If you are shopping for an awning it's definitely worth your time to talk to Ron - a very pleasant man with a great product.

We are so delighted with our awning! It complements our home beautifully, and provides much needed shade for us and our potted plants from that treacherous Texas sun. Now we can utilize our patio the way it was intended. The awning is so easy to operate with the remote -- we just love it. The quality and workmanship are top-notch, too! We know we will really enjoy sipping a beer or margarita on our patio a lot more this summer.

Recently I contacted Excel Awning and Shade to look at installing awnings to extend my patio area. From the first contact with Ron to the completion of the installation, the experience was favorable. The quality of the product is superb and the selection of colors is almost mind boggling. But the best experience would have to be the installation. The installers were professional and courteous and Ron was there from start to finish – something you rarely get once the initial sale is made. We wanted to include our testimonial to those you currently have: July 2009. For the 5 years we have been in our home, we have contemplated the best solution for our west exposure back porch. Although there is roofing over the narrow but long porch that backs up to our breakfast room and family room, the last few hours of the afternoon the Texas sun shone directly on the walls of the porch causing this area to be unbearably hot and the A/C to work that much harder to cool the house due to the brick baking in the afternoon sun. So... we called Excel Awning and Ron rode to our "rescue" that very afternoon! After his presentation, we were convinced of the quality of the equipment, pleased with the warranty, and Ron left with order in hand and our down payment for a 25 X 9 foot awning. Since installation, we have been very pleased with the functionality, the extra shade provided, the mechanics of, fabric and border chosen (of which there are many different selections). (And by the way, we love the 'moon lighting' at the edge of the awning-cool addition!). Ron has returned at our request to lower the awning to provide a bit more shading which has been helpful. He is a joy to work with and a service-oriented gentleman. Thanks for the good work, Ron -- and now if you will send a bit of rain to the parched Houston area, we'll be, indeed, happy!!! Seriously, we do recommend Excel and Ron and are pleased with our decision to include this awning as a home improvement.

My wife and I moved to Texas in 2007. We lived in a small town and knew who to call when we needed a contractor. Here in Houston, it seems that 90% of the time, we wind up with folks doing the work that do not speak our language. It makes it very difficult to communicate when something does not go according to plan. Our project for spring 2011 was to finish our patio area and make it into something we can enjoy year round. We did some work ahead of time and hired out the concrete work and the wrought iron fencing and arbor. Now for the shade! We did not know anyone to get a reference from so “Google” was our first shot. I found three companies that seemed to have good references. I made calls and left messages with two of them. Ron answered the phone personally and came out the next day to talk to us about our shade solution. He was very personable and you could tell he was an honest man. With his help and suggestions, my wife picked out the colors she liked and we placed an order immediately. Normally, I would wait and get three bids but this time I knew I was not going to be able to beat the service or the warranty. He told us when to expect the awning and when he planned to install it. He called two days early and we had our awning in less time than expected. The funny thing is, we never heard back from one of the other companies. The other called one day before Ron installed the awning we ordered. He was miffed. He said he did not understand how we could possibly order an awning without first seeing his. I understood however, it is all about customer service. This fellow did not care enough about me as a new contact to even call me back in a reasonable time frame. That left me feeling very good about the decision my wife and I made. I think it is obvious that we both recommend Ron and his team. If you would like to come and see what our new patio looks like with our new Texas shade, just let Ron know and he will set up a time to bring you by. Frank and I sat out under those awnings on Saturday until 6:30pm. before heading back to Houston. We love them, and they do what you said. The wind got a little rough before we left, and they promptly closed... sensors really do work! I love, love, love them, and the color is perfect!
